TeenFlight officially started our third airplane build (TF3). We have five students so far with a couple more scheduled to visit us during one of our build sessions. We are looking to have 20 new students participate in our TF3 build and we are canvassing high schools to let them know about our program and hopefully find more candidates.
We are still waiting on getting our TF1 aircraft registered. We sent our paperwork in May for which they lost our Bill of Sale and Affidavits of Ownership. They never bothered to let us know. While at Oshkosh, I visited the FAA booth in hopes of getting a status. They said the computer records show there was a issue, but there was no explanation as to why or who rejected it. It was supposedly rejected early June and that someday I would receive a letter as too the reason. Since a significant amount of time had already lapsed with no letter, the FAA official took pity on us and researched the issue when they returned back to the office and found that the issue was the missing paperwork. They were all stapled together so when they unstapled it, the items got lost. I resent the Bill of Sales and Affidavits of Ownership. After a few weeks, I got a call that they were rejecting the Affidavits of Owner because we should have signed the Affidavits of Ownership, not Van's. I argued with them that this is how ELSA is done, but the person did not know what ELSA was. After talking to their supervisor they accepted the form and confirmed they had no issue with the Bill of Sale and that they would complete the registration. A couple of weeks later I get the first letter from them stating that they rejected our Bill of Sale. They are now requiring that all ESLA Bill of Sales now have to have "Airplane", not "Kit" in the description. I let Van's handle this issue and Van's issued us a new Bill of Sale and I immediately sent that in. It's now been a month and still no word!! It's difficult to get someone on the phone. You literally have to spend the day on hold and you will usually have your call dropped after 20 minutes stating due to call volume you are being disconnected and should call back later. We hope to get it registered before summer so we can actually fly it to Oshkosh 2016!!
Wish us luck!
