Young Eagles News

The EAA has implemented a new Youth Protection Policy.  The policy adds additional requirements on the chapter for ANY event where children are present, with the obvious big impact being our annual Young Eagles event in June.   We'll talk through the changes during the February Chapter meeting.

I hope to answer your questions, and we can commiserate about the changes, but its here now and we need to start deciding, both personally and as an organization, how we're going to proceed.

The forums are buzzing, but it appears mostly to do with misconceptions about the requirements. For the YE Rally we do not need EVERYONE to take the training... it's encouraged, but not required. Background checks are required for pilots, and at least two "leaders" on the ground.  You DO NOT have to give your Social Security Number.

If you're so inclined you can complete the training and start the background check immediately.  If you have questions about the process feel free to e-mail me before the meeting so I can research the answer.
